Where To Find The Sunshine Coast’s Best Parmigianas

Chicken parmigiana is the ultimate pub grub and there’s nothing more Aussie than heading down to your local and tucking into a good ol’ parmy.

But here on the Sunshine Coast, we do things a bit differently and we know you want more. More toppings, more flavours, more choice.

To help you on your culinary quest, we’ve hunted down the Sunshine Coast’s best parmigiana and can we tell you, there’s nothing pedestrian about these parmies. You can thank us later.

Bertoni’s, Noosaville and Maroochydore

Let’s kick this list off with the generous offering at Bertoni’s. Boasting eight tasty toppings, there’s a parma for every palate, including the classic with Napoli sauce, prosciutto and mozzarella; the Hawaiian take with BBQ sauce, shredded ham and pineapple; creamy mushroom, béchamel and spring onion; and the catch of the day, complete with prawns, fish and scallops. And if that’s not enough to tantalise your tastebuds, the Noosaville restaurant shares the love with $15 parma nights from Monday to Thursday.

Uptown Gastropub, Maroochydore

Uptown Gastropub teeters on the precipice with its stylish pub setting and restaurant quality food, so it would be blasphemous for them not to serve a chicken parmigiana – lucky for them, and for you, they do. Topped with smoked ham, sugo and three cheeses, this parmy cosies up to the pub’s signature warm potato and sweetcorn salad. Delish.

Your Mates Brewhouse, Warana

What really makes a chicken parmigiana so damn good is the cheese, which is why we applaud Your Mates for taking it up a notch (actually three notches) with their interpretation—golden crumbed chicken, smoked bacon, house Napoli sauce and three-cheese topping. Served with hand cut chips and slaw, it wouldn’t be complete without knocking back an icy cold beer with 0 food miles, as it was brewed on-site for your drinking pleasure.

The Beach Bar And Grill, Mooloolaba

Warning: if you’re an indecisive person, you may want to steer clear of The Beach Bar and Grill’s infamous chicken parmies. Made from premium freerange chicken breast, they offer six stellar toppings and they’re all super tasty. Our two favourites are the Hog All with pulled pork, smokey bacon, red onion and BBQ rib sauce; and the Philly cheese steak with cream cheese, sliced rump steak, capsicum, onion, mozzarella, tomato sauce and Japanese mayo. Each parmy comes with chips and salad, or you can upgrade to potato and veggies, or sweet potato chips and salad. Need we say more?

Land & Sea, Noosaville

There’s no mucking about with Land & Sea’s classic offering of chicken schnitzel, Napoli sauce and mozzarella, with chips and chopped salad riding shotgun. Because everything is made from scratch, you know it’s going to be one of the best parmigianas on the Sunshine Coast. And with the dish openly described as ‘great beer food’, you simply must wash this baby down with one of their house brews. It would be rude not to.

The Post Office, Maroochydore

It’s a Tuesday night and you don’t feel like cooking? We don’t blame you. That’s where The Post Office on Ocean Street comes to the rescue with their $9.50 dinner special of chicken parmigiana topped with ham, mozzarella and Napoli sauce, served with salad and chips. And you don’t even have to do the washing up.

The Dock, Mooloolaba

Introducing The Dock's parmigiana—house-crumbed chicken breast topped with Napoli sauce, smoked leg ham, three cheeses and finished with a delicious Béarnaise sauce. Pair it with waterfront views and your choice from 52 beer taps across the three bars, and it’s safe to say we know where you’ll be spending your weekends this winter.
